New Disney Cruise Line Rules You Need to Know Before Your Next Sailing

Disney Cruise Line vacations are one of our favorite ways to experience Disney magic without the stress of Lightning Lanes, dining reservations, or navigating crowded theme parks. From character meet-and-greets to Broadway-style entertainment and world-class service, Disney cruises have built a loyal following among families and Disney fans alike.
However, Disney Cruise Line is introducing several policy changes that could impact your next sailing. Beginning June 3, guests will notice new rules regarding stateroom decorations, onboard alcohol, and even some of the popular packing hacks cruisers have relied on for years.
Here’s a breakdown of the seven changes you should know before you set sail.
1. Door Decorations Must Stay on Your Stateroom Door
Decorating stateroom doors has long been a beloved cruise tradition. Personalized magnets, family signs, and Disney-themed decorations help guests celebrate special occasions and make it easy to spot their rooms.
Starting June 3, decorations may only be displayed on the stateroom door itself. Decorations will no longer be permitted on corridor walls, ceilings, or surrounding areas.
2. Adhesives Are No Longer Allowed
If you enjoy decorating your cabin door, you'll need to stick with magnets. Disney Cruise Line is prohibiting the use of tape, glue, sticky tack, and other adhesives because they can damage the door's finish.
To avoid any issues, make sure all decorations are magnetic and can be easily removed without leaving marks behind.
3. No Sound, Music, or Video Displays
Interactive decorations may be fun, but Disney Cruise Line is asking guests to keep things quiet. Decorations that play music, sounds, or videos will no longer be allowed, helping maintain a peaceful environment for all guests in the stateroom hallways.
4. Don't Leave Valuable Items on Your Door
Disney is also reminding guests that anything displayed outside a stateroom is left at the owner's risk. The cruise line will not be responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items attached to cabin doors.
If a decoration holds sentimental or monetary value, it may be best to keep it inside your stateroom.
5. Over-the-Door Organizers Are Prohibited
Many experienced cruisers pack over-the-door organizers to maximize storage space in their staterooms. These organizers are often used to hold sunscreen, toiletries, chargers, and other essentials.
Beginning June 3, Disney Cruise Line will no longer allow over-the-door hanging organizers. According to Disney, these items can cause scratches and damage to stateroom doors, trim, and hardware.
Now personally, I never used the over the door hooks for this reason. However, I regularly bring the over the door shoe organizer. But In place of the hooks, I use heavy duty magnets to attach the organizer to the wall. Here are the ones I have:

6. Changes to the Bring-Your-Own Alcohol Policy
Disney Cruise Line is updating its alcohol policy and reducing the amount guests can bring onboard.
Previously, guests could bring up to two bottles of wine. Under the new policy, each guest of legal drinking age may bring either:
One bottle of wine or sparkling wine (750ml or smaller), OR
Six beers (12 ounces or smaller)
As before, these beverages must be packed in your carry-on luggage and cannot be placed in checked bags.
7. Corkage Fees Are Getting Cheaper
While guests can bring less alcohol onboard, there is one piece of good news.
If you choose to bring your own wine or sparkling wine and enjoy it in one of Disney Cruise Line's dining venues, the corkage fee is being reduced from $29 to $20 per bottle.
For wine lovers, this change could help offset some of the limitations of the updated alcohol policy.
Final Thoughts
While some of these changes may disappoint longtime Disney cruisers—especially those who enjoy elaborate door decorations or rely on over-the-door organizers—most of the updates appear to be focused on preserving ship conditions, improving safety, and enhancing the guest experience.
