We Went Horseback Riding at Disney's Fort Wilderness Campgrounds! / Is It Worth It?

One of my Walt Disney World Bucket List items was to go Horseback Riding at The Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds. The minimum age is 9 years old, so this was the first opportunity for Rider and I to go together and it did not disappoint.

Long pants are not required, but personally I recommend them. Most of the people in our group were wearing shorts and I did overhear a few people state that they wished they had worn pants. Closed toe shoes ARE required.

Because the Tri-Circle D Ranch is at the front of the Campground, you CAN park there with your Trail Ride Reservation. You can also take Disney Bus Transportation that will leave you right in front of the stables. I do not recommend taking any boat transportation (or the Magic Kingdom bus), because those will leave you at the back of the campground and you will then need to take an Inner Loop bus to the front of the campground. You are better off, just taking an Uber or Lyft.

The times available the day of our ride were: 8:00am, 9:30am, 11:00am, 12:30pm and 2:00pm

Our reservation was at 11:00am. They started with the safety briefing right at 11am and started getting everyone paired with their horse by 11:10am. Do not be late! We started the actual trail ride just before 11:30am and were back at 12:15pm.

You are allowed to take your phone, but it must stay in your pocket for the duration of the ride. Free lockers are available to store your belongings. I chose to leave my phone in the locker, but then at the end of the ride, I had no way to take a picture of us. Fortunately, a fellow guest used her phone to take pictures of Rider and I and sent them to me. So if you want pictures of you on your horse, I do recommend taking your phone with you and making sure you have somewhere to store it during the ride. All video footage I took while on the horse was taken with my Ray-Ban Meta Glasses.

From the Walt Disney World Website:

Guests 9 years of age and up can ride through an idyllic woodland teeming with deer, ducks, armadillos and rabbits. This trail ride is perfect for beginner and intermediate riders. Horses will keep a steady walking pace as we explore the natural beauty surrounding Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds.

Pricing: These 45-minute horseback trail rides are $65 per person (discounts are available).
